It was the device that made the noise, 10,000  Hertz, audible, even with just plain water in the cup.  A calorimetric test was used to check the device, a measured amount of water and a temperature rise.  It was used at that time in the LSU Medical School lab.  I don't know if they actually made any sort of vaccines, just inactivated the bacteria or virus, and made them harmlesss.  The equipment was brought to me in a pick-up truck, wrapped in a cadaver bag!  (An unused bag ).

While working for Raytheon Marine Electronics I repaired a Sonic Oscillator, which was used to kill viruses and bacteria.  It oscillated at 10,000 Hertz and had a metal cup in which was placed the bacteria or virus to be inactivated.  After inactivation all that was left was the shell, which no longer could cause disease.  The shells could then be used to make vaccines which would fool the body into making it immune to those pathogens.  This was about thirty years ago.   I do remember the loud screaming noise the device made.  Very annoying.  It was used at a medical school.

Thank you. Very interesting. I thought possibly this was just a rumor, but it could very well be true. I do know that many prostitutes were very religious, and would remove any medals or crosses from their necks before performing their services.

I have heard that St. Lucy was adopted by prostitutes as their patron Saint, and they often use the expression Santa Lucia. Is there anything to this?

Sorry about that, test transmission, it doesn't happen anymore, has been corrected by blogster. Test Transmission was blogged in 2005. It happened only on apostrophes, they would come out double, like quotation marks. Lets see : Ain't, isn't etc . Thank you for your reply.

I was in the 8th grade and remember very vividly, our teacher, a Catholic nun, saying " I would love to be a Martyr and die for my religion, because Martyrs go straight to Heaven." How could she know this, and who said so ? Just one more reason for me to be an Atheist. Sounds like religious fanaticism to me. 9-11 terrorists think like that. I am certainly no longer a Catholic, or any other religion. Right now religion is causing the current world problems, not lack of religion. Havent seen God or any god appearing to anyone as he has done according to the bible.
